Can you use your existing security cameras?

Often, yes. Existing cameras can support remote monitoring when the recorder or cameras can share video securely, the views cover the areas that matter, there is enough light at night and the site connection is reliable. A site review checks each of these before support is confirmed.

The five checks

  1. Secure video access. The cameras or recorder can share video securely with a monitoring service, with your permission.
  2. Useful views. Cameras point at the entrances, perimeters and assets that matter, not just at walls or sky.
  3. Night performance. There is enough lighting or infrared range to see people and vehicles after dark.
  4. Reliable connection. The site connection can send video steadily, with enough upload capacity for the monitored cameras.
  5. Accurate time. Camera and recorder clocks are correct so incident records line up.

What to prepare

  • The camera and recorder make and model, if you know them
  • A rough camera map or list of what each camera sees
  • Your internet provider and connection type at the site

Never send camera passwords or footage through a web form or email. Access is arranged privately during the site review, only with your permission.

If a camera is not suitable

The review shows which views can be supported today and which would need a new angle, better lighting, a replacement camera or a better connection. Equipment and installation are quoted separately so you can decide.
